Oil in my Air Filter Housing?
I have a 1990 Camaro Rs with a 305 TBI that i bought for 300 bucks and it runs like a champ. After doing what seemed like the first oil change in months directly after i bought, i decided to just tool around with the engine and after
opening the housing for the airfilter I noticed it was saturated with oil, there was pooling of oil in the bottom as well. whats the problem? I am not too mechanically inclined, however, as i am an autobody student i get all the work i need done for free, aside from the parts I buy so please feel free to throw me some advice

I had the same problem in my Silverado, which had 175,000 miles on it before I junked it.
Worn piston rings or fuel-glazed cylinder walls are causing a lot of blowby which results in a pressurized crankcase. This pressure pushes oil up through your breather when the PCV tries to vent your crankcase. Your breather is connected to your air cleaner.
Try changing your PCV valve first, and make sure there's no cracked or broken vacuum lines in the PCV system. If that doesn't work, I don't think there's many other options besides a teardown and re-ringing of your pistons.

Re: Oil in my Air Filter Housing?
thanks I'll have the instructor for engines at my school take care of the PCV Valve and if that doesn't work I'll see what he wants to do. I just wanted to know if it was of dire concern because I am in the process of purchasing a used 350 and its transmission to swap out
