Newbie helpp....

Hey guys, i was directed to your forum by some guys on the forum i go to. So for starters i have a 1987 Chevy K5 Blazer, i swaped in a 350 from an 88 w/ TBI. the truck came w/ a 305 tbi.

So my issue is, in the last month my truck started with an issue. I was sitting in traffic idleing along and then it started to sputter and then died on me. I crawl to the side of the road, and try to start it back up. The truck wont start. So i sit for 30mins finally it starts up. Then i hear a valve ticking..so i pull into a parking lot, stop park it for another 20mins... start it up again and drive the mile down the road w/ my valve tick and park it, go into the fair and forget about it. I come out a few hours later, start up the truck, runs smooth like a top! Drive it home 45mins not a single problem, no tick nothing. Drove it again few days later, with an exact repeat, it stalls dies out, wont start have to wait 30mins then it finally starts, has a small tick and then park it for a few hours it goes away.

Fast forward a month, been driving fine, havent hit any dead traffic to sit in so i've been ok. Tonight traffic, and it did the same thing, started to sputter and then died on me. Sat for 30mins started up and ran well, drove it home parked it and now im here. Can someone please give me any ideas what it could be?? I am about to put a carb on it like all my friends are saying to do. Any ideas thanks guys!

It sounds like you have an ignition control module problem or possibly a fuel pump that quits when it gets hot. The fact that it quits when you get stuck in traffic tells me that it is likely related to heat buildup. The clicking could be a miss-fire.
