quick IAC question.
Hey guys, finally got around to doing my IAC tonight, I took it off cleaned it.(was way dirty). But during the process I broke the gasket, All parts houses were closed so I guesstimated it, Didnt over tightin it at all, just kinda eyeballed it to where I had it with the gasket on, I fired it up and it idled like crap, rough and would take a few seconds to settle down after coming to a stop. (had to move it to the street for the night. I was curious as to if its just causing a big vacuum leak right there or what. Thanks guys.

My guess ? You got a vacuum leak.
If it was me, I'd gooey up the broken gasket with gasket varnish, or whatever non-silicone stuff was on hand until I got a new one, and put it back in.

Ya its in about 30 pieces..brittle piece of crap, I cant seem to get the gasket specifically for the IAC from Kragen or Autozone. Guess I'll try the dealership within the next day or 2.

Probably, I'd attempt to make a gasket, but that's me.
How to reset one ?
It's a stepper motor.
You screw the pintel in to a preset distance ( don't have that number available ) which is pretty much to make sure you don't hit anything when you reinstall the unit in the casting, but not so far as to get it out of range, turn the key on, wait a few seconds, turn the key off.
When you key off, the ECM runs it against one stop or another so it knows exactly where it is, then counts steps and parks it at the park position before powering off.

I was reading a thread on here (not sure who's it was) But I just screw it in. then did the rocking motion so its back in to its height that it was when I removed it. takes a little time but it went back in pretty easy.
