TBI wanting to switch to Carb
What fuel pressure would be best for a Holley 4 brl cfm. Is Carb better than TBI. Is there enough mods to the TBI to make it as good as a carb. Im still learning and trying to take in as much knowledge as possible.

Re: TBI wanting to switch to Carb
Even if you plan on doing some mods to you engine The tbi unit will support 350 to about 450hp with the right throttle body and learning how to tune your own ecm/chip burning. I had originally ran a carb on my current engine until I got a newer truck that had tbi on it. After some learning and a small investment in tuning/chip burining equipment I now have a way smoother better running, More efficient engine than I did with a carb. I picked up 7mpg in mileage, Much better cold starts and cold weather drivability etc. I would say stick the injection and just learn how to tune/Mod it. Just my thoughts.

Re: TBI wanting to switch to Carb
Ok thanx for the help. Im just learning cuz i hear both sides of the stories on carb vs injection. Some say carb dumps more fuel at high rpm and injection tends to lean out a WOT with the TBI. I know at the track i run like mid 15s when i get there then the more times i race the slower my car gets. Some ppl at the track said the TBI cant keep up with the long high rpm. So they told me it would be best to get like a 4bbl carb to keep the fuel dumping through the intake. They say the tbi fuel press cant keep up with the motors rpm and leans out and looses HP. Im still learning about lots of things on the motor and through out the whole car. But thanx for the help though.

Just about everything you've been told is dead wrong.....and it appears whoever you've been talking to someone who doesn't even know how a carb works let alone how a fuel injected system works.
The actuall fuel delivery system can easily support your power....the talk about it not keeping up run after run is complete bull, if you were having fuel starvation problems it would cure itself the second you lifted off the throttle. So your first run would have the same problems as your last. You're expereincing heat soak....cool you car off between rounds and you'll stay consistent.
It's been mentioned but I'll say it again because most people don't believe anything unless they hear multiple times. Tuning is the key to making power with FI, you would never run a carb that you couldn't change the jets in....so why run FI if you can't tune it?

Re: TBI wanting to switch to Carb
Couldn't agree more !
Think of this way.
A carb has throttle plates, and adds fuel.
You can change jets ( WOT ) idle ( screws ) and guesstimate some of the midrange. ( meter rods )
TBI has throttle plates, and adds fuel.
You can adjust absolutely every aspect of fueling throughout the entire range of the engine, and then some, plus modify even that for specific conditions.
EFI can auto-compensate for barometric pressure, humidity, temperature, changes in fuel, etc. etc. etc.
Somehow, I don't see the question ?

Re: TBI wanting to switch to Carb
My 88 Camaro was the first fuel injected car my family ever owned and I noticed the difference right away. No more pumping the gas pedal when the engine was cold and much better throttle response even for an L03. And those guys are always comparing performance oriented four barrel carbs to stock two injector TBI systems. You never hear them compare a two barrel carb to it. Compare apples to apples I always say. If your car has TBI keep it. If you're deat set on having a carb then switch to a carb. It all depends on what you want in the end.
