My car has 193 heads and a turbo 350 trans, but there is too much mess on the block over the 5.0L or 5.7L stamp to read it, but it looks as if it says 5.0L

Every book at work (O'reilly Auto) says 193 heads came off the truck 350's but mortec.com just says 305/350 with no explanation

If i have a 5.0L are these heads a performance upgrade if I get a cam? Or did they seriously not come on any 305 engines and I probably have a 350? If chances are its a 350 ima tear down till i can get in and clean that block stamp

 

well the block casting said this ( i ripped out dist to find block casting) did these motors come with 193 heads?

10243880...350...95-00...2 or 4...Vortec truck, Gen.I crate motors and "ZZ4", roller cam, one piece rear seal

 

AFAIK no 305s came with those heads. I could easily be wrong about that though, but I don't think so. 305s typically came with the 187 casting; same basic thing (swirlies), just downsized for 305s.

Sounds like you've got yerbasic mix-n-match "rebuilder's special". One thing is CERTAIN: neither the block nor the heads came with the car. It's probably just some stuff somebody slapped together and into the car.

 

yeah i was worried because the car had a/c smog and everything but i live in alabama and most cars dont have that... but i ripped the car apart as much as i had to, to get that block casting number, so now im glad i atleast have a 350, so i can atleast buy the right parts for the car!
