Strange TBI Problem

I have an 89 blazer with a 5.7 auto with tbi. I recently put in an Edelbrock intake, billet distributor, headers, and an msd 6al ignition. The tbi itself seemed to backfire through and melted the injector connectors but it still ran. I noticed the passenger side injector just dripping in a stream of fuel rather than a cone of mist. I figured it was a bad injector and upgraded to a Holley 502-6. I just installed it and it did the same exact thing and caught on fire. I shut the engine off and the fuel just keeps streaming out of that same passenger side injector on the new Holley unit as well as the old stock tbi. Obviously it is probably not the injector but I have no clue what this could be caused by. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Strange TBI Problem

sounds like a shorted injector driver . unplug injector and see if fuel still drips with keyon/engine off. hopefully no damage to the tbi has been done.

Re: Strange TBI Problem

I did unplug the injector when it was still dripping fuel. Engine and key were off and it still continued to drip. I will try your suggestion also and will repost. Thanks for the info.

Re: Strange TBI Problem

I unplugged the problem side injector and turned key on/engine off and it still drips fuel. Is that a sign the injector is bad or possibly a seal melted in fire? I metered out the wiring and the only differences between the each injector is I get a 5ohm reading between the red and blue(drivers side) and no reading between the green and white(pass side with problem).

Re: Strange TBI Problem

sounds like another damaged injector. ohm check the harness without the injectors or ecm hooked up to check for shorting in the harness. hook ecm back up then check for full voltage with the key on engine off. 1 of the wires to each injector should be within a half a volt of battery volts. then check for voltage drop from ecm case to battery ground.
