TBI stuck open

I just installed a 91 tbi setup on a 82 305, as soon as my fuel pump kicks on the injectors seem to run wide open and do not stop. as long as I have power to my fuel pump the injectors inject massive amounts of fuel. I did reprogram a chip for the ecm but, all i changed was the VATS setting and EGR settings.

Any known reason why my injectors would stay wide open?

Re: TBI stuck open

yes, it was hooked up. I unhooked it and found that it was still shooting fuel into the engine. I'm in the process of rebuilding the tbi. I hope the injectors are good. I have looked high and low for the resistance value they are supposed to have and found 3 different values ranging from 1.2 ohm to 6-7ohm to 11-12 ohms. I am going to install the rebuild tbi tonight and see what happens.

Re: TBI stuck open

When I first turn the ignition on w/o starting the engine, the fuel pump only runs for about two or three seconds. I'd have to look at a wiring diagram, but I believe this is controlled by relays along the firewall on the driver's side. I'm out town, so I don't have access to the manual for my car.

Can anyone verify?

listen, your injector coils are shot should be 16 oms.. they are not closing thats why they are dumping.. call my friend jon at FIC he's around on his cell on weekends 770 842 0882 and get a good set of drop in injectors for about 160. stop looking anywhere else for the problem.,. thats it.. you will have hydrolock soon and really mess that engine up. check your oil its probablly got fuel in it by now..

the pump only runs too pressurize the rail. once the ecm gets a signal that the engine is cranking the pump stays on till the signal that the engine is running goes off.
