Forward slack in the throttle cable. Normal?

On my throttle cable, I can pull the cable towards the front of the car by about 1/2" beyond the closed position of the blades in the body. Is this normal?

PS- It's a big block TBI unit on a 350.

Re: Forward slack in the throttle cable. Normal?

if your talking about the housing of the cable, its not normal.
if your talking about the part of the cable that hooks to the throttle, that is completely normal.
