please help me rack my brain

ok, so i've posted on my crossfire system the past few days.

here's what we've completed

we ARE getting fuel to the injectors. i have a new ignition rotor in the distro, the wires are good....and until about 30 minutes ago, the ign coil was good (if fried).

ok, so the car turns, but never fires. yes, i have fuel, and at one point i had spark.

we are thinking the coil was just on its way out, and thats what caused all this headache.

any educated opinions?


and this xfire system will before sale in a weeks time. putting the carb'd intake on this weekend hopefully. (funds allowing) haha

ok, so i replaced all the bad parts in the distro. i am now getting spark. but now, when we crank the car, it rolls, then backfires, then white smoke blows out the TB's. i checked the sequence on the plugs, and its good. i considered taking a video of it, but it got too dark. has this ever happened to anyone? is it possible that my timing is THAT far off?

I am going to assume that you did not remove the distributor off the engine so here is my input; timing is way off for it to backfire and smoke out the TB. I would recheck the plug wire and make sure they are on the right cylinder as well as on the distributor cap. Make sure the distributor hold down nut is on tight. If all is fine and it still continues to display the same symptoms, then loosen the distributer hold down nut just so that you are able to turn the dizzy. Start the car and turn the dizzy clockwise at very small increment and see if the car gets better or worse. If worse, turn the dizzy counter CW.
