tbi on carb intake
Iv searched here before asking. A friend of mine has a 88 camaro with tbi iv learned that if you get a adaptor plate you can run almost any intake out there (just about) here comes the Q, plans are a LT1 cam, hedman shorties with already 3in not cat exhuast, ported heads on a 305, what would be the best intake to use? I'm a tpi guy so this is all new to me. I don't understand single and dual plane, if anyone can help thanks.
Re: tbi on carb intake
You'd want a dual-plane for sure. It has two "levels" of runners, for each side of the engine. It basically adds runner length, for more air velocity, hence more torque. That's how Holley did it years ago with the first add-on TBI for any engine. They just had an adapter plate. I went to this many years ago, and have never gone back to a carb yet!

Re: tbi on carb intake
Summitracing.com has one from painless for about 95bucks. I did a search on google and found some as low as 40bucks. And as for intake read above makes sense but it also has to do with your engine setup too. If you want higher rpm then single but if you want tq then dual plane. There aren't really cheap intakes out there except used, the edelbrock air gap is pricy but works. You have to remeber if your motor is 87up 305 or 350 you need to look for that intake that's spcified otherwise any intake will bolt on with the right adaptor plate. I think there's one for a holley to quadrajet style intake and vise versa

Good job hijacking the thread buddy(just playin) glad to hear it worked out good. Did you have to retune the ecm? Rear end would have to be 12bolt but that's my opion others will say ford 9 but search and see what best suites you. Good luck
