TPS Sensor question

Okay, so im getting an intermittent code while driving. Usually happens when slowing down at a light or something. Idle kicks up way high and a throw the SES light. The code goes away when i accelerate, usually within 30 seconds. While the SES light is on the idle is choppy and bounces around between like 1500 and 2200 rpms. I cant get the code number because the code doesnt seem to store and it never happens while im just parked somewhere. Does this sound like a TPS sensor problem?

Re: TPS Sensor question

Wouldn't hurt to check it.
You could also clean the IAC too.

Re: TPS Sensor question

I vote IAC. Could have a bad connection or could b dirty. When I unplugged my IAC the Idle would shoot way higher than normal then settle once I plugged it back in.

Re: TPS Sensor question

I just recently cleaned the IAC when i swapped in my new injectors, guess it wouldnt hurt to clean it again. Also how would you check the TPS? There has to be some way to tell if its going bad.

Re: TPS Sensor question

So i finally got the code to stay on, its throwing a code 22, i searched and found out that means low voltage to the TPS? It was for a TPI car thought and not a TBI car, is the code the same regardless?

Re: TPS Sensor question

Yep I got the same code when my TPS was not adjusted properly. There is a tech article on how to adjust it properly.
