So ever since I was young my dad has had an 1989 Camaro, and I have always loved it. Well I didn't get into cars untill last year and when I did I started asking him about it. I had a 1997 Grand Prix GTP 3.8L Supercharged, CAI, flowtech exhaust. Well his camaro has been sitting in the barn for several years due to a bad fuel pump and his lack of time to fix it(and not letting me do it).

He always bragged that the camaro (305 tbi) 170hp(not dynoed just factory rating) would smoke my GTP (Supercharged 3.8) 230hp, and I thought...OK DAD watever you say...LOL

I presented him with the HP ratings and other things, and he was like O well my RS has a factory Z28 Package.

He doesn't know what things that consisted of, and I looked around the net for it, and couldn't find such a thing.

Does anyone know if this is legit, or my dad is full of it? lol

 

Your dad is mis-remembering. Although the Z28 could be had with the LO3 motor certain years. You can't have both the RS and the Z28 pkg on any 3rd gen Camaro.

 

but you could have the z28 suspension (f41) with the 16" wheels.. And an Rs could have z28 options but not the z28 rpo. It would have been a b4c camaro which would have been A police type car. It would have had such items such as a 305 Tpi and 700r4 tranny..

these are mostly on the 91-92 cars I believe.

 

OMG, no need to get into exactly what can be had with what. You can't have a 3rd gen RS Z28 Camaro. The B4C couldn't be had with the LO3 TBI engine, which is clearly stated that this car has the LO3 TBI. Therefore, it is either a V8 RS or a Z28 with the base engine, but not both.

 

I never said you could have a RS Z28 camaro.. No one could, i just said the options could be visa versa giving him a little history on them.

I have a 1992 rs w/ 305TBi LO3 engine with the F41 Suspension.(which is a better stock suspension that came with 91-92 z28s. it has 16 inch rims.etc) Maybe thats what your dad believed he had although it only came on the 91-92 cars.

So to conclude, your dad probably doesn't have anything to do with his rs being a z28.

 

F41 is NOT IROC or 91-92 Z28 suspension.

IMO here is what you should do, post up your RPO's and we can confirm what the car has, and you can get out there with some jack stands and a new fuel pump and replace that thing! If it has been sitting there what have you been waiting for....lol I just did mine and if your a GM enthusiast it will be well worthwhile, save that thing from the barn and drive it like you stole it. lol

 

ok that is what I thought I know it has RS badges and a 5-spd tranny, so anyway I would have fixed it up, but he won't let me...and he doesn't live in town so hes not there for me to bug about it everyday.

It really doesn't matter if it has a package or not lol i'd like so see him keep up with me next spring when my RS has a 350 dropped in it

 

whats the f41 stand for then hmm.
