Carb Hat on a TBI Throttle Body?

I have a 454 TBI throttle body sitting on top of a Edlebrock port conversion manifold.

Planning to throw some boost at it and wondering if a carb hat would work to direct the pressure.

Anyone have experience pressurizing a TBI throttle body? Not planning to use the TBI injectors, although spraying methanol or wiper fluid with them might be an interesting use.

What carb hat did you use? Brand? Size? Any issues?

Yes but you have to pressure reference the throttle shaft if you are planning on running a meaningful amount of pressure w/ a wet throttle plate & bore, otherwise you'll start to shoot fuel out via the shafts.

Here's how to do it: (CFI TB but similar procedure for others)

Re: Carb Hat on a TBI Throttle Body?

It's been converted to a port setup, but if I sprayed methanol above the throttle blades, leaking methanol could be an issue. I was thinking more about air leaking past the throttle shaft.

I can see what your doing, but not sure how this would help. Either it is an attempt to provide a drain for fuel working its way alongside the shaft, or it is attempting to pressurize the shaft from the bottom side, though if it leaks out alongside the shaft to the atmosphere before these mods, I would think it will still leak afterwards.

Can you explain how this works a bit more? I'm guessing I'm missing something here...

Or maybe the relative vacuum from beneath the blades helps keep it from leaking out at the shaft?

Is the Caddy TBI intake made of steel or plastic? Anyone used one with boost?

Simpson36 (??) I believe did some serious rebushing or rather bearing efforts in several of his posts. Not sure if he is in the biz to do others? Also DMS(?) over on the crossfire forum I believe does rebushing work.

I have a new carb blower hat for sale currently in classifieds, however I may have a buyer pending. If interested check with me in a week.

I have some old Procharger brochures that indicate they offerred truck specific TBI based systems a few years back. They devoted a full page to applications. Now PC only references "available" on TBI applications in their brochure for 2008. Limited to under 12 psi they say.
