Re: Fuel Pump
Changing the fuel pump is not as bad as it sounds. Do a quick search and you'll find out everything you need to know. And dont put a TBI pump in there if your going to do any future engine mods. Go with a Walbro 190 or 255 or a TPI Pump.

Re: Fuel Pump
It would be benifical to do it now, the fuel pressure regulator will keep the pressure down. Later if and when you need to bump the pressure you will just need to get a new FPR.
Don't let it get under 1/2 a tank, and the pump should last for a long time, and you won't have to do it twice to upgrade.

Depending on how many mods your going to do and how crazy your going to get with the engine will be the difference between which fuel pump you should get. a 190 or a 255. You might also want to look into upgrading your FPR also. It would do nothing but help you at this point if your going to upgrade the cam. Joined: Sep 2006

Re: Fuel Pump
In case you get a Walbro 255 note that there is a particular batch/type that is prone to break after a few thousand miles. the p/n on it is something like F20000169 (i have one of these, fortunately not put in yet
).
you might want to go with a delco TPI or LT1 pump.

there is another recent thread in the TBI forum about fuel pumps:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tbi/...fuel-pump.html
and the one i find is good for a reference when doing the swap:

lots of reading to be done, but after all you only want to drop the tank once and do everything right..

Re: Fuel Pump
Definitely take a sandwich & drink along when reading the fuel pump
replacement thread. And post #10 ought to be stickied somewhere.
It was amusing that the thread ended when someone (correctly IMO)
pointed out to simply monitor the fuel pressure.
I love this place. The expertise available is comparable only to the
gas-bags.
