Re: Someone please help!!!

You mentioned that you replaced the wires. Is the firing order correct?

Is the distributor in correct? (why is the hood off?)

Re: Someone please help!!!

I have checked the firing order quite a few times. I achieved TDC by pulling the #1 plug and cranking it over with my finger over cylinder untill it blew off my finger .The car was working fine then all of a sudden she started to miss at WOT, then the problem kept getting worse. As to tell you why my car don't have a hood on..... I just bought the car within the last 4 months. The previous owner hit a Bear on the highway, and destroyed the headlight assembly, upper core support, hood, passenger fender, and last but not least the windshield.

So here I am trying to save this bird from being crushed. I have around $4500 Including the price of the car put into it. I fell in love with F-bodys, when i bought my 99 TransAm in 2000. Then i had my daughter in 2002 , and as soon as she was born i had to sell my Bird .

Re: Someone please help!!!

I have replaced the EGR valve. That was one of the first things i had to do to get the car to pass emissions. I think the car maybe running rich. I have a rich smelling exhaust that i just noticed.and some blackened snow after i rev'd the engine up.Also my fuel pump has had a whine since i bought the car, but i have never had a lack of fuel issue. Oh yeah for all the replies. Even if i don't have the bird running well right now, i still appreciate the suggestions. - Russ

Edit: also under slight throttle i can rev the engine up to 5000rpms no problem. It's only giving me grief under wide open throttle.

Have you hooked up a fuel pressure gauge yet?

Re: Someone please help!!!

I have not yet. I don't have acess to one right now. I do have a air/fuel gauge to install to see atleats if i am running rich or lean. I have an idea that i may be running lean at WOT. If my pump is going out it would be loosing pressure and causing a lean condition at higher rpms. I also have a Holley 12-903 255lph pump to install over the weekend.

Re: Someone please help!!!

try setting your base timing up 4-8* any modified tbi seems to like that it will even help a stock one. also before u spend another dime check your fp anything less than 11 psi and they run horrible.
