Throttle Position Sensor Issues (wiring)

G'day Folks,

I'm having an issue with the Throttle Position Sensor circuit on my 83' T/A (Crossfire Injected). According to the service manual the following voltages should be recorded at Idle:

* Terminal's C & B - 0.525V

Now, upon testing the voltages on my car, the following was recorded:

* Terminal's C & B at idle - 4.40V
* Terminal's C & B at full throttle - 1.05V

After further testing I have found that there is 5V on the 'C' Terminal (Grey cable) which according to the workshop manual should have nothing or minimal voltage. I get the same reading when the connector is removed from TPS.

Should the power supply (5V) go to Terminal 'A' or Terminal 'C' as I am getting conflicting information from the workshop manual.

Cheers

Jason

Re: Throttle Position Sensor Issues (wiring)

Hello Prince'

Gray wire is + 5Volt reference voltage supplied by ECM, Pin C14 and should be connected to Pin C of TPS. Pin B is TPS voltage (dark blue) and should be connected to Pin C13 of ECM. Black wire - sensor ground return is tied to Pin A of TPS and correspondingly ties into A11 of ECM.

At idle you should see approximately 600 mV between TPS pins B & A and about 4.40 at WOT...
