Usb to serial datalogger cable adapter
Usb to serial datalogger cable adapter
I've been reading alot about using usb to serial adapters with a aldl pc interface cable. Is there a particular type adapter you would need to buy? Or would any one off of Ebay, Amazon or places like that work? Also I read a little about using dc to ac inverters causing interference or problems with the datalogging, is this true? I found this serial to usb adapter on amazon for $5.50 does anyone know if this or one like this would work? Could someone pleas help me understand what I need to use when I build my datalogger cable.

Re: Usb to serial datalogger cable adapter
The one that RBob has on EBL has a different chipset. There are two chipsets that are basically in every adapter. I had the wrong one, search my post on DYI, and it works like crap.
When looking at power inverters, make sure that the ac watts is greater than the ac watts on your laptop power supply. My monster Dell ps is rated at 130watts, therefor I need a inverter that can handle greater than 130 watts.

If you have a notebook without com1, i would go with a com1-pcmcia-card. i think, it´s the better way to do that...
