Edelbrock TBI vs Stock???

On my 383 TBI motor:
I am putting my top-end back togeter after a bent valve incedent and am looking for a better TBI manifold. Currently I am running the stock manifold bored to 2" to match my Holley TBI unit.
I have searched for comparisons on the Edelbrock 3704 and have not found much in actual reports of the perfomance.

I am leaning towards just putting my stock manifold back on, but would like to hear any of your opinions on the Edelbrock TBI manifold (or other alternative) - especially if you are using one or have experiance with one. The price tag is a bit steep at $265 + boring out to 2".

thanks,
Keith

Stock manifolds are usually really restrictive and if its a LO3 stock intake then yes the edelbrock would be a great upgrade. But several people make them but I honestly like the 4bbl intake with the adapter for more choices.

Re: Edelbrock TBI vs Stock???

I always thought that the Edelbrock Performer TBI was a stock replacement manifold. Dctrumpet recently posted some good pictures of the manifold. Runners are small.

I would look for something a bit more performance oriented. Such as the Performer RPM Q-Jet intake with an adapter plate. Be sure to research items such as EGR and head bolt angles before purchase.

RBob.

I got a Weiand X-cellerator on my 305 with an adapter plate and I really like it!

Definitely get a carb manifold with an adapter plate. I regret ever buying the 3704.

What adapter plate do you use? What do you do about EGR?

Any experiance with the Holley TBI manifold (model 300-49)?

The Holley Manifold doesent look much better then the 3704.
Try looking at the Performer RPM.

Thats the adapter I run, but I think you said you use a 454 Throttle body, so that adapter plate wont work. Jegs and Summit both have a bunch of TBI to Carb adapter plates to choose from, just pick the one you need.
