Cylinder head interchangability
Cylinder head interchangability
Will heads off of older small block chevy's bolt on to an 87 and up block. I want to use the standard small block chevy carbureted intake with an adapter plate for the throttle body so don't worry about intake problems, I'm just talking about the block. Thanks.

Yes, use a new bolt set for early heads & double check pushrod lengths.

You can use the older heads but you have to use the 86' and earlier intake as well. Pushrod length should be okay as I think it travels the same length with the only difference between the two pushrods being that roller cams use shorter(I think?) lengths. New head bolts are pretty cheap and provide some peace of mind ,plus the old ones will probably look pretty nasty!
