lo5 can it make good power?
lo5 can it make good power?
i just recieved an lo5 out of a suburban for a real good deal that im looking to put into my 89 firebird. Before i do i plan on rebuilding the motor and i was wonder if its possible to get 350 fwhp out of an lo5. i know the heads are trash so im scrapping those and the cam of course, but will the tbi setup be able to hack it?

Well the heads and cam are kinda what makes it a LO5. Throw those out and it's just small block short block. Will the stock LO5 TBI get you to 350 BHP...no, not enough fuel and barely enough airflow.

The 46mm (590cfm) TB should be ok for 350fwhp, otherwise you can always use the 50mm one or some aftermarket TB.
For fueling a walbro 190 +, some 68#/hr injectors, 24psi VAFPR will take care of it with some reserve just for the case.
To tune it and run it the best and simplest would be EBL flash.
Read all the sticky treads on top of the board, will give you a good idea of what TBI is capable of.
