AC and AIR Pump delet

I am going to being to drive my car as a dd again, however my Air/smog pump is going out, Ac dosen't work either.

I know I can get a AC delet pulley.
However I haven't heard or read enought about the air pump. Since all I have left of the air system is my pump and it's going out, my question is how have all of you that have removed yours routed your belt.
I do not have my car at my house at the moment. (going to get it this weekend)
Can I get a delet pulley or can I just take off the ac and air pump and run a smaller belt, run an ac delete and take the air pump off with a smaller belt?

Thank your for you help.

Re: AC and AIR Pump delet

Basically, all of the above.

You could get both delete pulleys on ebay. That will run at least $100 before shipping.
Or pull the compressor and AIR pump and run a much smaller belt for a much better price.

delete pulleys available at NAPA for around $40 each - you only need the delete pulley for the a/c.

Re: AC and AIR Pump delet

Or, you can just delete the air pump. Keep the a/c just in case. All for the cost of a new belt. Check out the tech section on this site for belt routing and belt part number.

How would you know if your smog stuff was going out? How is it going to affect performance?

Re: AC and AIR Pump delet

The bearings in the pump are going. You can hear it squealing, take the belt off and you can feel it too. I would buy a new pump, but that is the only part of the air system the kid I bought it from left on it. So I am going to just take it off and get a new belt. AC is fine now, unplugged when I bought it, but I also bought the car to race it so I will more then likely end up with an AC delete too. Just figured I would ask about that one at the same time.

Sorry guess I didn't read everything you wrote well enought J91Camaro.
I can't tell you how it would affect your performance, the smog pump was the only part of the air system that was on the car when I bought it. But like an Idler pulley, if they start to go, sometimes you can hear them squeal, taking the belt off and turning the pulley's by hand you can feel it not turning smoothly. Sometimes they don't squeal until right before they go though. Mine has been for awhile. Because I am going to be driving it everyday again, I want that fixed first.

Re: AC and AIR Pump delet

Just want to say thank your for everyone's help.
Got the belt on this morning. Glad I did, when I took the air pump off their were chunks of metal falling out of it.
Doing great so far.
