Hey I am a forum nooby so excuse me if I'm posting in the wrong spot. I just purchased a 1991 RS 5.0 TBI. I was wondering if anyone knew the most economical way to increase horsepower to around 250hp. I bought this car for my son so I dont want it to carried away but the 5.0 is a little to weak. Thanks in advance for any responses.

 

engine swap dude the 91 305 at most put like 180hp they were the slower 305's and u could add all this stuff but it would probably cost about the same to just go out and buy a 350. i got the same car and im gonna let the 305 die then swap it for a 350

Thanks for the reply and the routing of this thread to its proper area. If you could throw a link to that area out to me as I couldnt find it . As far as an engine swap i'm really not interested in doing that at this point as the car is a 38K mile all original car and it belongs to my son which is 16. I just dont mind giving him a little over 225 but that's about as far as I want to go. Thanks in advance guys!

 

i have an 89 camaro 305 tbi. by all means we all wish we had a 350 but with the way the economy is sometimes it not doable. if you want to puch more horces out of the 305. i would focus on the heads and a bigger cam. the thing with the 305 is it has a smaller bore than a 350 but it shares the same stroke. im not a big fan of my 305 but what i have listed will put you were you want
