I HAVE A 1991 CAMARO 305 TBI. I PUT A NEW EDELBROCK CAM N LIFTERS TIMMING CHAIN. HEADERS WITH Y-PIPE AND NO CAT. OPEN AIR ELEMENT. THE CAR RAN AWESOME AND THEN IT STARTED TO RUN LIKE IT WAS MISSING THE ONLY WAY TO KEEP IT FROM STALLING IS TO HOLD THE GAS PEDEL DOWN. SINCE THAT I PUT A BRAND NEW DISTRUBITER AND CAP N COIL N PLUGS N WIRES N NEW O2 SENSOR N MAP SENSOR. AND A NEW FUEL FILTER AND CHANGED THE GAS CAR STILL RUNS LIKE CRAP. I CHECK THE FUEL PRESSURE TODAY AND IT WAS ONLY AT 10.5 PSI AND I WAS WONDERING IS THE THE PROBLEM? THANKS ALOT FOR ANY INPUT.

 

I JUST CHECKED THE FUEL PRESSURE AGAIN BUT THIS TIME I HAD THE KEY FORWARD BUT NOT RUNNING AND THE FUEL PRESSURE WENT TO 10.5 TO TO 0. I AM SURE NOW ITS THE FUEL PUMP.

 

10.5 is fine and with the ign. in the on position the pump will only run for a couple of secs and then turn off. It will only start running again when cranking or when you turn the ign off, wait for about 30 secs and turn it on again. Then it'll run for another couple of secs.

 

how do you check the fuel pressure and how much pressure is it supposed to have.

 

you need to buy an adapter thats made for the tbi engines and a fuel pressure gauge. do a google search. i will post a pic of it soon.

 

thanks alot for the info. do you have any other ideas? i have a new but used computer and modular comming from ebay. $25. tomorrow i am going to take the valve covers off and see if the rockers arms are moving.
