Timing issue, car wont hardly run. Please help

All my problems just started happening when i replaced my stock intake and installed a edelbrock performer intake.

I have a brand new MSD dissy, new coil, new TPS, IAC and water temp sensors.

When i initially start the car it back fires out of the TB, when it runs it has a rough idle until you adjust the timing then everything runs fine. You can let it idle and rev it up just fine but when I try to put it in gear the car sputters and quits running. Then on start up it goes back to idleing rough until you adjust the timing again. It seems like when the car stalls all timing resets and has to be adjusted after start up. Does any one know what the problem could be? I need to figure this problem out.

Quick question... Did you unhook the EST wire on the firewall, before setting the timing?

Yes i did, however i don't know if there is a proper sequence. Pretty much i started my car, unhooked the EST wire set the timing. Pluged the EST wire back in and turned off the car. Is that how it's done? When i go to restart the car it misses, blows air out the TB until i find proper timming again.

I believe you should unhook the wire before you start the car, and hook it back up with the car off. It may work either way.

technically you should get your engine to temp have your ecm in diag mode with the test tool [or jump wire]
then unplug the est lead brwn with a blk stripe
and set your base timing
