Hi guys, I was wondering if it was possible to use my XE268H cam and keep my TBI without tuning it?

I dont have the money to finish my Vortec head swap, so i just want to throw the TBI Shortblock with the cam and everything done so i can do the Vortec head swap later when i find myself another job.

Thanks.

Is that a flat tapped cam? What is the exact part number? What engine?

Just for reference, LO3 with just the 94 LT1 cam runs, but really needs some fuel supply upgrades and tunining, for a little performance. Without it feels like you ruined the car.

I have not tried with a LO5, but probably wery similar.

In case you dont know, http://dynamicefi.com/ , worth every penny.
Sooner or later is has to be tuned, best is to tune every time you change something.

Not tuning after a cam change is such a bad idea.

I realize its a bad idea, but i need this truck on the road.

I would only drive it for a couple months like that.

Cam Specs, and yes its Flat Tappet.

BTW, its in a 1994 Chevy RCSB Truck.

If you know it's a bad idea, why are you asking us? If you really need the truck on the road, but don't have the money to tune it correctly, why not just leave it alone for now?

I would seriously doubt it will be driveable with that cam and no tuning. Even if it can be driven, it won't be good.

The guide bosses on my L98 head had to be shaved to handle the lift on my 268XFI.

I run XE268H with a 114LSA for computer controlled cars. Part #12-268-4. your choice is similar but has a 110 LSA. You will need to swap in a tuned chip(tbichips.com) or tune it yourself. I seriously doubt the vehicle will run correctly without doing the above.
