unkown problem
i just bought a 89 rs camaro tbi 305 and the guy said it ran fine until he let someone test drive it and let the fuel tank run dry. it will run when i spray starter fluid in it so i know it will run. so i changed the fuel filter and the fuel was definately getting to the filter, then i took the tbi apart and made sure there was no trash in it. now it will crank by it self but will die immediately but when i unplug the hose in the back inbetween the in and out fuel lines of the tbi it will stay cranked for about 30 seconds unless i hold the throttle a little then it will keep running for a little bit longer but eventually the check engine light will appear and will die. i think one of the problems might be the fuel pump is not pumping enough pressure, and /or i might have a bad senser but i dont know what hoses are witch sensers. i dont know im a little confused someone please help what should i check and how?

When you turn the key to the on position can your hear the fuel pump come on? Should sound like a low humming noise for a few seconds. You might need someone outside the car near the tank to hear it. Sounds as though your fuel pump is going out to me.
