A/C?

If I was to discharge the a/c on my 1992 rs can I just charge it with the freon from any auto parts store is it more complicated than that?

if has already been retrofitted to R134a you will still need to pull a vacuum on the system. you do not want air/moisture in there.

I really don't know, I just got it. I'd think so it is an 18 year old car with cold blowing ac. Is this a job for a professional?

No one is using freeon anymore. It is all 134a, If you system was not converted to 134a, then it will need to be.

You should probably take it to a shop that does A/C work. I would guess that you are going to open up a line somewhere which is why you want to discharge the system. Once open, moisture from the air will get inside. You will then have to put a vacuum pump on the system to lower the boiling point of the water so that it will boil out by way of the vacuum pump and leave your system dry. Not really doable without the proper equipment. Good luck with your project!
