I have a 1990 rs with a 305 and it won't start I changed the fuel filter bought a new battery but when I spray starting fluid it starts but then shuts off what's wrong with it? Any help is appreciated

 

1990 RS is not carbed from the factory - they are TBI cars (Throttle Body Injection - kinda looks like a carb, but has fuel injectors inside). Is it a carb or a TBI?

Is the fuel pump coming on when you turn the key on? (you should here it whine from the trunk area). If no fuel pump whining, replace the fuel pump relay.

 

your not getting fuel. listen for the fuel pump when you turn the key on. you should hear a wine comming from the trunk area. if you dont hear it try removing the relay and testing it. if the relay checks out ok then its most likely your fuel pump. hope this helps

 

make sure you check the relay harness to make sure that power is getting from point a to point b...

 

My mistake I though it was a carb but it's 100% stock so it's the tbi do they get clogged easy could it be the tbi? I haven't check if the fuel pump is working or not but I will
