1,500 rpm idle. idk?

i had just bought a 92 camaro with a 305 tbi in it. the car idles at 1500 rpm. this is my first non carb build so im kinda lost. can any one give me some ideas of where to start? the guy i bought it from could not give me a hole lot of info but he said that there might be a super chip in the car. but he is not sure. Im used to adjusting a car with a screwdriver not a computer so any info will be helpfull.
where would the super chip be located and how can i tell if i have one in there?
thanks forr the help

is the check engine light on? If it has a chip in it, it would be located inside the ecm. You can find it mounted on the passenger side, close to the fender side, under the dash.
