where is the problem
on occasion when starting the my 92 rs with a 305 stock automatic i have to feather the gas pedal to keep the car going otherwise i just **** everyone off around me with my loud flowmaster exhaust. someitmes the car will start and die then ill start it again and ill put it in drive or reverse and it will die or it wont even turn over. its really anoying after picking up something from a trailer park at 11:00 o clock at night with 3 other people in the car been told my fuel lines could be gummed up any other suggestions. it will do this if its hot or cold outside. and sometimes it will start no problem too

Re: where is the problem
yes it is tbi. the last tune up not sure. just bought the car two weeks ago. already replaced my radiator cap, the egr breather filter, and recharged my k&n air filter, had to get my exhaust pipe cut and lowered( previous owner who had it installed made it to where it hit the u-joint on my drive shaft, and had my transmission mount replaced (it was shot to hell(rubber was completely shreded) i guess my next step is to tune the carburator. but all in all with those minor changes ive made ive seen a 100% increase in the cars performance

Re: where is the problem
It sounds like you are going in the right direction with getting it fully tuned up. Any doubt, do the proper maintenance before assuming something is at fault.
Not much to tune with a TBI unit.... not like a carb anyway.

Re: where is the problem
1st issue is confusion. You state the car is TBI, put you posted in the carb forum and mentioned "tuning the carb".
So is it a carb, or is it a TBI? 1992 should be factory TBI, but maybe it's been swapped for a carb? In which case we need to know what carb, what fuel pressure, what fuel pump, what regulator, etc.
2nd - pull codes to see if there's anything there - get a paperclip and check out : https://www.thirdgen.org/service-eng...ht-error-codes
3rd - have you checked for vacuum leaks?
4th - have you checked timing? If TBI, you need to disconnect the EST wire to check and adjust base timing. If carbed, you need to disconnect the vacuum line to dist to check base timing (and plug it so there's no vac leak).
5th - wires - check plug wires for breaks/shorts. replace rotor and dist cap. make sure all plug wires are securely on plugs.
