When startng my car on a cold or hot day and even running it and driving it when put my car in park the idle goes all the way up to like 2000rpms.

why does it do this.

 

clean the IAC and passageway.

Here is a pic of the TBI, as you can see the IAC (idle air Control) is located on the left rear of the TBI,there is a gasket on this part, try and not damage it when you remove the IAC. If you do damage it, either find new or buy some gasket material from local auto parts store, and make your own. in either case make sure you use a gasket.

 

you know mine does the same thing and ive taken apart and rebuilt the throttle body. any other things that can do this? itll rev to 1800rpm when started and rev high for 3 mins then slowly go down to 550rpm.... any ideas experts? its stumped me for 2 yrs now. just to know: all new sensors with the stock rebuilt motor. no cel or soft codes stored. new fuel pump and filter. new injectors.
