Erratic Idle

Hey guys whats up? I'm really stumped with whats going on with my idle. It never seems to decide what it wants to do lol. Usually it will idle up really high (sorry I dont have any numbers the tach dosent read correctly) and then when I come to a stop at a red light 7 times out of 10 It will drop back down to what I assume is normal. It has been throwing a code since I bought it its the MAT (Manifold Air temp) is too high. Im really stumped and any help would be great.

Re: Erratic Idle

I'm also having a problem similar to this. My friend opened up my hood and lightly tapped the throttle something sensor and it stop for a while. It's a lil black sensor on the front left of the intake just under the pan for the filter. I'm new to pretty much everything and have no idea if you even have one of these (I have a stock 305) but if you do, give it a try.

Re: Erratic Idle

The IAT or MAT sensor is fitted into the bottom of the air cleaner housing at the rear. It's the plug you have to unplug if you take off the air cleaner. Check to see if it's still there, or if not, that the sensor is still plugged in to the line. Sometimes people leave it hanging out somewhere where it will be in cooler air than the heat soaked environs it usually is in . If so, it may have fallen down near the exhaust which could explain the reading. Higher temps would also cause the ignition to be retarded and the mixture to be richened up. Find out where that sensor is
