Anyone running a comp XR276HR in a 350?

Hey guys. I've got a vortec motor that I'm thinking about putting in a thirdgen and need some opinions. I rebuilt the motor last year and currently have it in an s10 with the stock CSFI setup. The truck is rusting out pretty bad and I'd like to move on to something new. I rebuilt the stock bottom end and had the heads rebuilt, they're good for .525 lift. I have a XR276HR cam in it, along with a set of roller tip rockers with stock 1.5 ratio. Other than that, it's stock. My question is, if I were to put a performer TBI intake on this motor, how difficult is it going to be to get it to run right with TBI? I do not have the means to invest my time and money into tuning it, so how likely is it that a mail-order tune will get it close? What throttle body and injectors would be recommended?

I guess basically what I'm trying to figure out is whether I can do this without it becoming a nightmare to get it running right. I don't expect it to be perfect and I don't have to pass emissions, I just don't want a crazy surging idle or a nasty stumble.

I am running a CS XR269HR-12 in a tbi vortec motor. Just a bit smaller than your cam. The answer is yes it has been difficult to tune but definitely do-able. However mine has past emissions testing. I cannot say if any of the mail order tunes would be any good but, this is a fairly common combination so if you talk to them you may find they have tuned this combo before.

You will need a BBC 2" tbi and I would recommend 80lb injectors with about 20 psi fuel pressure.

Thanks for your input. Did you tune yours yourself? Your setup is very similar, how do you like it?

Yes I did the tune. We use the car strictly for cruising, it is a lot of fun to drive.
