Putting in an order for an EBL today. FINALLY!

It's been awhile guys, but I've found m[y way back to 3rdGen.Org. I have a heads-cam-intake lo3 that has been sitting for the last 2 summers b/c it runs so horribley cos it needs tuned! I was going to do it last summer, but started a very demanding project at work that required oodles of hrs to be put in at the office. Well things have slowed down enough to start taking up some projects at home so I have vowed to get the RS back on the road this year!

I'm going to put in an order on the EBL from Dynamic EFI today and was just wondering excactly what I needed to get so I can take delivery and hit the ground running! If you guys could give me a few pointers I'd be appreciative as this is all new to me and I'm not sure exactly what I need.

I noticed Dynamic EFI has the Flash EBL and the EBL P4 flash systems. What are the differences b/t these 2? Which do you reccomend?

I cannot answer your questions. But RBOB usually checks in on this forum. And he is always lurking in the DIY PROM/ecm tuning board. Question might be best served there.

For your TBI set up you will want to order the EBL Flash system. For this just unplug your current ECM and plug in the EBL Flash ECM. Note that it will not run the A.I.R. system. So wil need to either disconnect the solenoid connectors, or pop the terminals out of C1 & C2 on the ECM connector.

With a little re-wiring can then use those wires to run the fan from the ECM, and even the A/C compressor.

The EBL P4 Flash is designed for MPFI systems such as the TPI folks use. It won't run a 2-bbl TBI, uses the '7730 or '7749 ECM.

If your laptop doesn't have a serial port (9-pin male connector) then be sure to get a USB to Serial adapter cable that uses the FTDI chip set (we carry one, but you knew I'd mention that ).

if u dont buy the serial to usb adapter from rbob u can get one at staples which has recently gotten an update to work on both 32 an 64 bit systems

I think my laptop had the port so I didn't need it. But hey, I just placed my order for the ebl a few minutes ago :-)

The EBL Classic & Flash systems have never been able to run an AIR system (smog pump). The early EBL Classic releases didn't run EGR or CCP either. Current releases now operate both the EGR and CCP. Along with closed loop for cat-con operation (always available).

The EBL P4 Flash system for MPFI set ups do run AIR along with EGR, CCP, and closed loop.

lol I know the feeling buddy. I've been posting the same thing on here for almost 3 years now. I pretty much haven't driven my tbi during this time! Fortunately I have a spare LS1 Z28 sitting in the garage so I haven't had to be with out a toy at all, but I miss my 3rd gen darnit!!

It's better late then never for guys like us I suppose : )

Bob, I'm going to put this in today where exactly are the solenoid connectors you speak of? I really didn't want to start pulling stuff out of the ebl and risk messing something up.

Re: Putting in an order for an EBL today. FINALLY!

Yes that makes me ask a question too. It says to run the fans and a/c. Right now the ecm tells the fans to turn on after it gets signal from the fan temp sensor correct? the a/c just goes thru relays if im not mistaken? Mainly im wondering is if I order it. plug it in will everything that was working still be working. How many days can I plan the car to be down?

Re: Putting in an order for an EBL today. FINALLY!

The AIR solenoid connectors are on top of the device on the tube that comes from the air pump (passenger side behind the A/C copressor).

Only the fan swich controls the fan.
The EBL output to control a fan is C1.

No down time, plug in, load the LO3 EBL bin and drive. Can then do VE learns and play with the tune.

I know what you mean. But somewhere in between the heads and cam it went from needing tuning to get the full potential to needing it to get the car on the road lol. I am so exited to tie everything together with the ebl though, all the years of the mods are about to pay off!! What all mods do you have Undercover?? Oh, and thanks for the info Thomas!

Oh wow, you definitely do need a tune! It's still drivable with the cam? I can actually drive mine, but it boggs down and coughs so much it's not worth the frustration. What lift did you go with?? And I respect your privacy with the parts to be mentioned later ; )

It still drives fine. I just dont think it is "optimal" yet. So I want to get every available HP out of it. So i'll be going to ebl flash real soon.

Hey, can't blame you there! Seems like the computer cam is working good for ya! I went with a comp .480 intake, .487 exaust on mine and like I said it's pretty much undrivable lol.
