Replacing the Intake Manifold, need suggestions...
Replacing the Intake Manifold, need suggestions...
So I tried to remove the water outlet this past week. The bolt heads broke off, its rusted shut, leaking, corroding, and pretty much time to replace the entire intake manifold. Looking online, I found two that are an "exact fit" according to Advance Auto parts I kinda like. Here's the first one:Part No. 3706
Quick View
Edelbrock Performer Series Intake Manifold
Here's the second one: Part No. 3704
Quick View
Edelbrock Performer T.B.I. Intake Manifold
I want to make this as painless as possible, without having to add or subtract crucial items. Can anyone offer some suggestions? Your guy's experience with these parts? Preferences?

Well the top one you have to run a 4 bbl carb to tbi adapter plate. The bottom one is basically direct bolt on. it sits a little higher so you gotta kind of bend the bracket for the tv and throttle cables. nothing major. It is more money though. Technically you can buy the performer carb intake and an adapter for cheaper than the tbi direct fit. Buuut if you have smog you cant do that. The 3704 is smog legal.

Yeah, unfortunately I do have to smog it. I kinda figured I would have to fork out the money for it. I hope I don't break anything by having to bend that stuff too far. Thanks.

Nah you wont break anything. You dont wanna go to the junkyard and get a stock intake? that woudl be the cheapest...

The couple of intakes I have come across were pretty corroded. Really not worth it. I have been keeping my eyes open just in case. I was thinking someone on the boards might have one for sale.

I'll be selling my performer 3704 hopefully next week. I did already have an inquiry about it. If they pass i'll give you a crack at it. But if you need it sooner than a couple weeks then forget that! haha. Thier usually is someone selling an intake in the for sale section on this board.
