no spark and no fuel...

ok so i am thinking my ICM went bad. i went out to dinner with the wife and her friend, came out and cranks but i have no fuel to the tbi or spark. any suggestions? i have read that if there is no spark the ECM wont tell the fuel pump to kick on.

Re: no spark and no fuel...

Well, when you turn the key "on" you should hear the fuel pump whine for a sec or two. If you don't I would check fuses first. Might have popped one.

i have checked all the fuses. i was thinking it was my VATS system, but when VATS goes out it wont allow the starter to engage.

Re: no spark and no fuel...

Ok so now I'm confused I changed the ICM it started up and I drove a whole 7 miles and died again. So either I got a junk one or my dizzy is taking a crap. Any other suggestions?

Re: no spark and no fuel...

well if thier was no grease put on the new ICM it can burn out fast. You need to get electrical grease. not the dielectric grease. this is more of a light tannish color. froma radioshack or something.

Re: no spark and no fuel...

I put the grease on it from the package but as I was driving I lost power in 5 and down shifted to 4 and had a little power and it back fired. Ill go see how well o Reilly honors their lifetime warranty

Re: no spark and no fuel...

i think the dizzy is back feeding and shorting out the ICM. I changed the ICM again along with a tune up and it started droved around fine, came home shut it off and now it wont start again. Once again no fuel/no spark. I think I am gonna just go buy a new dizzy and change it out. Sucks being stationed so far away from home now i dont have unlimited test parts lol.

Re: no spark and no fuel...

Yeah the problem is like Oreilly sells these Richporter new distributors, I drove mine for less than 5 miles and it failed. I put a used GM one in there and it's going again and doing fine..Sucks these aftermarket parts arent too par

Re: no spark and no fuel...

yes. I was changing my cap and rotor and the threads for the cap stripped. So I had it warrantied out and got another one, put the new one in and fired up fine ran good. Drove to the gas station, on way back, this is really all in less than a mile, crapped out broken down middle of the road. had to call tow truck to tow it back to my shop. ICM went out. Went over to the old parts bin and grabbed a GM module. Put her in and running good. Moral I always carry a spare ICM, Coil, and heater valve

If you wanna buy a spare, I have a brand new BWD module I can sell ya too LMK.

Re: no spark and no fuel...

yea i know these aftermarket ICMs are junk. I just cant figure out why they burn out after only 5 miles. the car alone only has 60,000 orig. on it. how much you asking for your BWD module?

Re: no spark and no fuel...

i just read and i saw that someone else had a similar problem and it was the connector from the ignition switch under the column that went bad. you ever heard of this or know how to find this? thanks
