what happens when:

what happens to the way the motor runs if it is steadily dripping gas out of the passenger side injector?

i.e. does it make it run rich? does it cause hesitation, does it screw up the way the motor runs or cause any unwanted "symptoms" that would be considered outside of the normal running ability for the car?

my dad seems to think it doesn't cause a problem, i seem to think it would make the motor run rich at idle thus possibly raising the idle beyond what it should be idling at. and also cause some amount of hesitation in the motor when you gas it.

the spray looks good when it's supposed to spray, like when you give it throttle, but at idle, it is a steady drip drip drip....

-------OBVIOUSLY i need to replace them, that's not the question.. though, i would like to know if they can be cleaned / rebuilt, or made not to drip rather than spending about $80 on a new one (i'm pretty much flat *** broke.... i don't suppose anyone has an extra one in good working order they'd be willing to send? used even?)

Re: what happens when:

yes it can cause problems. it can cause either a rich or lean condition. rich if it is spraying and dripping and a lean one if it is spraying eratic and dripping. no matter what anyone tells you ( YES IT WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS!!!) and if it gets to the point to where it is bad it can and will cause a miss.

Re: what happens when:

if it is missing then it is causing a problem. either of which will cause more problems that will cost more than you want to spend. i have used these people for years with no problems.

Re: what happens when:

yeah... it's spraying and dripping, and the motor has a miss in it, and smells heavily of the kind of exhaust that burns your eyes nose and mouth similarly to tear gas...

lol..

it's also smoking a bit, but i'm fairly certain that it's smoking because of the used exhaust i stuck on it that had been under a car for the last 15 years in a scrap yard..

wth though it's 3" and was free ... free is good right now as previously mentioned lol... but, what i mean is, it usually takes several heat cycles to get the old gunky crap out of an exhaust that hasn't been run for a while. so i'll have to see if it continues to smoke beyond that.

and as soon as i can, i'll be getting injectors.

Re: what happens when:

thx for the reference, looking at their site now.. and yeah, fortunately, (or unfortunately, however you look at it) i'm not driving the car currently, still getting it roadworthy at this point, though i don't know how long the previous owner drove it like that.. but the car hasn't been driven for at least 2 years from what i can tell...

WOW those are a lot cheaper than everywhere else... nice.. thx... they refurbs? would be nice if they were a pair lol

Re: what happens when:

You can't really rebuild injectors, there's nothing to rebuild on them

Re: what happens when:

lol, i guess i asked because, most of the "new ones" online say "rebuilt". there are some O rings n such that they change out supposedly, i don't really know.

but anyway, they are both in good shape? i'll probably get them from you, but i'm so incredibly broke at the moment it's not even funny. like... losing weight from not eating kind of broke... but.... you're asking a fair price for them, hold on to them for me please until i can figure something out. i definitely need them

and thanks! i do appreciate the offer

Re: what happens when:

I'll see if I have extra o-rings for them setting around, and no problem, I can hold them as long as you want, word of advice, if there's any fuel leak when you put everything back together, DON'T KEEP tightening things, it's because an o-ring is crooked or out of place, I think I have a diagram I can send you tht shows where all the gaskets go (I might have extra of those too) but I had to buy a whole new throttle body because I wrecked it tightening and already tight fuel line and I didn't fin out until after that how the o-rings HAVE to be in the right place, sitting perfectly
