89 Camaro missing on third cylinder= help!!
Engine was rebuilt when I got the car, but had never been running. I found that timing was off by 180. Got that fixed, and car started up. However, it's missing on third cylinder, and I can't figure this out!
-all valves are adjusted correctly
-spark plug wires have been switched from old to new, no difference
-swapped spark plugs
-checked compression- 150
-no burnt valves
-throttle body is checked and cleaned, right side injector was switched, and still the same
-fuel pressure is perfect

Any ideas?!
Thanks,
Bethany

Do you have the plug wire order correct (18436572)? It's easy to mis-route the plug wires and get them swapped accidentally on the rear two plugs. Are the cap and rotor new?
Beyond that we're into the realm of the wacky- flat exhaust lobes on the cam for that cylinder (cranking compression will be fine but it won't run right).

you said they are adjusted correctly. have you loosened them while the engine was running. you also said the valves were not burnt. did you see them with the heads off. have you measured the valve tip height? bent pushrod? bad lifter? is it noisy?

That's pretty drastic, could hook up vacuum gauge to see base vacuum, if it had a vacuum leak on one cylinder the vacuum reading at idle would shake...
Then maybe pull valve cover and see valves move and check adjust if your sure firing order is correct and that plug is firing...
