91 lo3 fuel pump question.

Hello, I have a 91 Firebird with a lo3 and automatic. The LO3 is mostly stock, just ignition and exhaust mods. Sadly the fuel pump has died and I need to replace it. Future plans are to swap on the TPI I have for it once I get a harness. So I don't have to drop the tank twice can I go ahead and replace the stock TBI pump with a TPI one or will it have too much pressure for the stock TBI fuel pressure regulator to handle?
Thanks

You'll be ok, the tpi pump only makes more pressure if regulator is for higher pressure. I like to use the same year tpi pump as your oem. I did this on my buddys truck this past weekend, 88 gmc truck, used a 88 irock tpi pump, plug n' play.

Did the same thing--'88 Chevy 4X4, used the AC EP241 fuel pump which is listed for the '88 IROC.

Did you have to adapt the outlet of the pump to the sending unit pipe? The original pump had a 3/8 outlet, the 241 uses a 5/16 outlet. Finding a bit of hose that would stretch over the sending unit tube while still fitting
the fuel pump outlet was...interesting.

take advantage and see how corroded your tank may be or may not be.. if you see any rust or "tar" in the tank i highly suggest to change it. i blew through 2 pumps because of that. now i got a new tank and a tpi fuel pump car runs awesome. lmk if you need a tank i have a new one just sitting still in its box.

pump will work no problems. you'll be set for awhile with that pump. but if you do to crazy of a tpi setup you'll eventually need even more pump.

I don't plan on ever going too crazy with this car since it is our summer time drop top fun car. Right now it is going to stay tbi and 305. In the future I will add the tpi and a mild 350.

sup with your fuel tank??? you might wanna kill two birds with one stone. these cars are 20 years+ and most likely on its factory tank. mine blew out three pumps before i changed it all together. now runs fine. (sorta, bad esc now).. i know where you can get a tank chea if your interested. lmk
