Is oil additive needed in 83 camaro

I was listening to the radio and they were talking about older cars needing oil with zddp, I was wondering if 1983 camaros fall under this category? Do they have flat tappet or roller camshafts? Also what additive would be the best chioce? or oil would be the best choice?
thanks

Re: Is oil additive needed in 83 camaro

'83 is flat tappet-zddp could help, but it is especially
important for breaking in a new flat tappet cam/lifters.
A soon as i became aware of the zddp issue,i started
to use oil i knew had higher zddp such as shell "rotella"
recently i have heard zinc is reduced in that too,so i
have some old vintage '80s 20w"fortified with liquid
zinc"oil that i add 1 QT of when i do an oil change-
bought this stuff(in cans)at a flea market.

83 is a flat tappet motor, I would add it.

My motor is also a flat tappet.

Has anyone here ever tried ZDDPlus?

The problem with pouring random quantities of zddp additive in is that you'll contaminate the O2 sensor and converter.

That's assuming I have a converter.

I thought that only lead was harmful to o2 sensors.

I use Lucas oil additive (12 oz bottle) which is different than their oil stabilizer(24 oz bottle).
