CEL after installing open element
Hey guys so im really stumped about a problem after installing a edelbroc air cleaner, now i start getting a check engine light when i press on the gas. But when im coming to a stop the CEL turns off. Once i get to the highway it turns on and usually stays on. I connected the IAT sensor and the valve breather onto the open air element, and i plugged the vacuum. Also when im stopped at a light, the idle seems to be a little off, like if it wants to stall. Any help guys thanks. I would get a code 32 for the highway thing , but i recently replaced the egr valve and solenoid so....

Well since you got the IAT connected your vehicle won't be throwing a code for that...
If you'd like to find out what CEL/SES code you're throwing, make a connection (by sticking a stripped wire into the sockets) between terminal A and B on your OBD1 port that's located under your driverside dash area. I would suggest searching the forums (or google it) about the specifics on how to retrieve codes from obd1 systems.
Have you checked for other vacuum leaks? Like the MAP sensor vacuum line to the back of the TBI? You may have bumped it... or maybe the line to the EGR solenoid. A vacuum leak will usually be the culprit to idle problems.
