Removing Emission Control

I have a 1983 camaro Z28 with the 305 crossfire. I was wondering if there was a way to safely remove the emission control units without messing with my engine. Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks

Re: Removing Emission Control

on my crossfire,i removed all the A.I.R. equipment ;smog pump, diverter valve and associated plumbing with no ill effects at all Did keep the EGR and canister purge working as those have benefits(the canister purge at least)and that stuff wasn't in the way like the A.I.R.stuff was...some have deactivated the EGR and reported no problems.Naturally get rid of the catalytic converter if it is still there

Re: Removing Emission Control

If you have to ask about how to do it, you probably don't realize that you aren't losing any power or performance due to the emissions equipment.

You probably also don't realize that it's against FEDERAL law, so even if they don't test emissions locally, you can still get in trouble if someone in Law Enforcement wants to **** you off.

Mostly, removing emissions controls is just pointless.
