9C1 350 Build

This is my first post here, so I hope i'm in the right section. I also searched for the answers to a couple of my questions and didn't seem to find them so my apologies in advance if this is a rehash of old info.

I have a '93 Caprice wagon with a stock, civi LO5. I am going to be building my first motor (under the guidance of someone who knows much more than I) and was thinking about building a mild 350 along the lines of the 9C1 LO5. Just something with a little more punch but keeping it stock and daily driver friendly.

Now, from research here and elsewhere I know I need the chip, L98 cam, and the larger injectors. My first question, I have a line on a chip. It is AXFF and supposedly came out of a 91-93 9C1. Is this the correct chip?

Next, the L98 cam I am aware this is a C4 vette cam. I am assuming these are still produced? If so is there an available part number?

And Finally, the injectors. Rockauto lists a 9C1 injector from GB Reman with a part number of 83114114. Are these correct? And has anyone used them?

Thanks in advance,
Justin

wait, that motor is the L99? Looks like the LT1 ? From what I have read, the L99 looks just like a 5.7 but it is a 4.3 and came in civilian and cop cars in 1993

Alright. That being the case. Since TBI 9C1's are just about as rare as can be, is it possible to buy a new chip from an aftermarket company?

If you are staying with the 1227746 ecm you can use the superseded version of the anlu witch is atjp gm 16144294. I have a brand new one or can burn you a copy if that helps. Pm me if you are interested . I do have 2 of the 16136965 ecs and 5.7 proms as well.

No, the L99/LT1 were in 94-96 cars. My car is an LO5 TBI. I've had the car long enough to know that much. Plus, there are no production wagons that got an L99.

Re: 9C1 350 Build

Don't waste your time with a factory cam. Phone your favorite cam company and talk to them with what you have and what you want. They will help pick something better than some lame factory cam such as the L98. Just because it's aftermarket doesn't make not "daily driver friendly", if anything it will make it more "friendly" as long as you match it to your setup and application.

Just get your current L05 injectors cleaned/flowed (witchhunter.com). Bump your pressure up a few psi to match your combination. You can make your stock pressure regulator adjustable or buy one. You may need to buy an aftermarket spring depending on what pressure you run. I would recommend the TPI fuel pump reguardless of your injector choice, pressure or power output. It made a night and day difference on my STOCK 1989 9C1. The TPI pump may not work in your tank, so I would goto the LT1 pump from a 94-96 Caprice. I believe they used the same tanks from 91-96, where as my '89 has a steel tank that uses the same pump as the TPI F-bodies.

Re: 9C1 350 Build

You can get flow matched sets of injectors from 50motorsports.com - I have used them in my 88 Z28 and my buddys el camino that we swapped a TPI motor in with no issues whatsoever. Maybe give them a try. Price isn't bad either
