Aftermarket FPR install help

Ronny, fast, dimented, RBob. Etc. lol ... I recently bought an aero motive VRFPR for my TBI firebird .. I know the inlet and outlet on the TBI itself are 14&12mm correct ? Are the metal lines coming off the frame the same ? 14&12? ... Also it is a single in with 3 outlets I believe .. Don't remember of top my head .. And I'm planning on removing the factory regulator .. How do I plumb this in and where can I get a block off plate for the factory regulator ? Also do I get rid of the diaphragm after installing the block off play ? Thanks guys ! This will really help me out alot !

Re: Aftermarket FPR install help

The feed line is 16mm, with the return line being 14mm. At both the TBI & frame lines. The first two fit the frame lines, the 2nd two fit the TBI unit:

9894DBH Female 14mm x 1.5" to -6: Fuel Injection Female "O" Ring Seal
9894DBJ Female 16mm x 1.5" to -6: Fuel Injection Female "O" Ring Seal
991954 14mm x 1.50" to -6: Fuel Injection - "O" Ring Seal
991955 16mm x 1.50" to -6: Fuel Injection - "O" Ring Seal

For a block off plate, get a piece of 1/8" thick aluminum, cut & file to size (use base of stock FPR for pattern), drill four holes. For a gasket use the stock diaphragm with the center cut out.

For the external FPR, the bottom is the outlet back to the tank. The other three ports are inlets from the return side (14mm/pass side) of the TBI unit. Just need to use one, plug the others.

Note that to install the external FPR, only the return side of the fuel system is touched. The feed side can remain as factory.

RBob.

Re: Aftermarket FPR install help

I used Aeroquip efi pushfit line and corresponding fittings. Pushfit is easy to use. When I swapped from an XRam to 7.4LTB I was able to reuse the fittings(for most part) and much of the push fit lines. I used Aeroquip comperssing fittings on the hard lines and removed the stock fittings from hard lines.

This was taken during install...

Re: Aftermarket FPR install help

Ronny .. So the feed line is split into the bottom o the regulator and into TB then return line just goes from TB to the top of regulator correct ? .. How does it bypass the extra fuel to te tank ? I'm confused .. But I have that exact same regulator .. Can u post a couple more pics please at different angles ? Thanks ! And where did u get the fittings ?

Re: Aftermarket FPR install help

??? Feed line comes from tank to the TB. It exists the TB and goes to the Aero FPR(one of 3 ports) and is then regulated for pressure. The fuel then leaves FPR and returns to tank. The stock FPR is removed and replaced by an aluminum plate that I made. I used the stock FPR as a template as well using the original gasket.

ps One of the 3 non return FPR ports is for the injectors, one i use for N20 fuel, and the other has a gauge. I will see if I can locate more pics. My stock fuel lines are accessed at the AC compressor. I cut fitting off them and used an AeroQ compression fitting. All AeroQ parts were purchased at a large speed shop near me.
