Stumped and Distressed

So... Driving my 92 Camaro 305 tbi. Suddenly while I'm moving the car begins dying. I put the car in neutral trying to rev it back to life when it dies. Bought a code scanner awhile back so i plugged it in. Told me ignition module read bad. So I replaced it. Now car hits and cranks. But not getting fire or fuel spray into tbi. But pump kicks on when i turn the key.

Check for spark with a timing light. Maybe pick up coil?

Re: Stumped and Distressed

Even though you can hear the pump kick on it may not be supplying enough to the engine. I had a similar issue in which the car would occasionally run, or start for a few seconds and then die. Hooked up a pressure gauge to the fuel line and it was all over the place, but consistently low. Swapped in a new fuel pump and all has been good since. I'm not saying that's what it is, because it sounds like it could be a few things. Just letting you know what happened to mine, I also have the 305 TBI

A code reader CANNOT tell you that the ignition module is defective.

A code reader can tell you that there's a trouble code for the ignition module circuits. That could be a module, or the wiring that connects the module to the rest of the vehicle, or some related item.

Until you perform the full diagnosis associated with that code, you won't know what's REALLY wrong.

"Cranks" and "fuel spray" I understand. What is "hits"??? What is "fire"?

No spark and no fuel spray--First Guesses--Pickup coil, module, or wiring. Possible ECM. I've had problems with the pickup coil and magnet assembly on a TBI engine. Replacing the distributor shaft was the solution in that case.
