Hey guys,

I just picked up my 91 RS, it has the 305 tbi motor. I drove it about 100 miles home with no problems. The past few days i have taken it out, at first it will be fine, no problems. After the car warms up i see the oil pressure drops to 30 then to 0 when i am at a light. the only way to keep it up and keep the engine from stalling is to keep my foot on the gas pedal. Oil pressure will be around 60 then, as soon as I take my foot of the gas the car shuts off. can anybody tell me what they think this could be? Just so I know where to look first. I check my oil and levels are good, it didnt need any oil. I am also looking for a 91-92 front spoiler/valence if anyone is trying to sell one.

 

could just be the idle control solinold.it may be idling too low.more rpms=more oil pressure.you might run through a can of fuel injection cleaner.seafoam has a good reputation.

 

First Guess: Oil pressure gauge problem due to defective sending unit. The pickup-truck sending units are infamous for failure. The seal leaks, the sending unit canister fills with oil. Damned things slosh when unthreaded from the rest of the engine. I bet the car sending units are either the same or similar.

 

Any idea when this car had its last tune up with new plug wires and a fuel filter change?

 

The guy i bought it from said he just did it. new fuel pump and filter, new injectors, new plugs, new wires. Thanks guys...I havnt had much time to get into to it since I bought it last weekend due to work. I will check what you have mentioned this weekend. I hope its nothing to serious and easy to fix.
