Cam advice?
anyone care to make a cam recommendation for me? I'm getting ready to rebuild my carb'd 350, which I plan to convert to TBI in the near future, it's a flat tappet engine, with Vortec heads, edlebrock aluminum intake, nothing special really, preferred powerband would be in the 1500-4500 rpm range.
the vehicle weighs about 4000 lbs, automatic, with a 2000 stall converter, and 3.73's
Thanks-
Eric

Re: Cam advice?
I went the cheap route and have the Summit 1102 cam (adv dur 278/288, Lift .421/.444) in my 350 blazer with heavily ported swirl port heads and a manual behind it. low end torque isnt the best but it pulls hard from 2000 to 5700 (and probably past that) where i have the fuel cutoff set. Im happy with it but im sure there are much better cams.
If you plan on changing a cam in a tbi setup you really should be prepared to tune to get the most from it.

Re: Cam advice?
the engine in the vehicle isn't TBI, and it's running vortec heads too. I plan to TBI or maybe TPI it a later date. I am well aware a tune would be required.

Re: Cam advice?
my thoughts were that heavily ported swirlports like mine flow pretty close to stock vortecs although the combustion chambers are different. just throwing out ideas man.
