Lt1 cam swap issue- Wrong Cam bolt pattern?
the original timing chain on my '92 roadmaster is stretched (L05 tbi) i decided to do a cheap upgrade and go with a double roller set and also decided to get a cheap stock lt1 cam to swap while im in there. problem is, the double roller timing chain set i ordered through summit doesnt line up with the bolt holes on my lt1 cam shaft. this is the timing set i bought Mel 3-163S i thought any gen 1 timing set would work... any ideas? I've read the stickys here and couldnt find anyone else with this problem. cam is from a '96 bbody.
heres the set that is supposedly a direct replacement for my car KT3-499SA3
Here's what we're dealing with

Yup, all the step-nose cams (retained with a plate bolted to the front of the block) had to have a revised (smaller) bolt circle because of the step-machining of the front of the camshaft.
This applies to the big-blocks, too. Learned that the hard way; not only did I need a different timing set, I also needed to order a different tang to drive the water pump on my marine water pump.

Don't forget to shorten the alignment pin on the cam. Otherwise it will strike the front timing cover, cause untold false knock and then cut a circle out of the cover..

I had a set of properly torque cam bolts back out once and do the same thing. I have used medium strength locktite on cam bolts ever since.
