adding IAT to truck tbi?

my wife has a 350 swapped s10 that is typically her winter beater. it usually runs crappy in the cold, great in the hot. is it possible to swap in an fbody ecm and add the wiring and sensor for the IAT? will it help it run better in the winter? im about to put a mild 355 into another s10 and was considering trying that first

My '88 TBI K1500 runs beautiful at -20F. First Guess: There's something wrong with your vehicle that can be fixed.

Does the computer have an accurate temperature reading from the coolant temp sensor?

Nothing wrong. All 5 of our tbi trucks react this way, only 2 are driven in the winter and those are the ones im considering swapping

Do you have a heated o2? Is the heat riser system still intact and functioning? Does the throttle body have play in it? Has the IAC been cleaned or replaced. How is the injector spray pattern? Have they been professionaly cleaned? My tbi caprice ran pretty good at - 30C after I did the above. I also plugged in a block heater over night. It did not like starting -45C without a block heater.

Re: adding IAT to truck tbi?

does not have a heated o2. the 4.3's still have their heat risers intact, the swapped 350 doesn't because of headers. tb shaft is good, iacs have been cleaned and reset. injector spray pattern is good. i did just have the ecm fail on the 350 and replaced with another one. it started to stumble and bog, the cel would strobe-not a rapid blink like when pulling codes, but strobe. never had any codes other than 12. it would chatter the injectors after it would stall idling. i would still like to know if its possible to do, or if i would need to repin the ecm connectors. i have the tools and knowledge to do it, just wondering if it would be worth while

The '8746 is plug & play with the '7747 ECM. Although there are only 8-cylinder calibrations available for it.

The IAT wiring, one pin goes to ground (engine block), the other pin goes to ECM terminal C12. No polarity on the IAT sensor.
