What is this cable? (on 91 firebird)

Hello

forgive me... perhaps this is a stupid question... but I am trying to find some information for my dad so that he can work on fixing the 91 firebird.

what is this part??

When dad went to press the gas pedal, we both noticed it had dropped off... upon closer inspection, we noticed that the black end all the way to the left (shaped a little bit like a tear drop) is broken. is this an accelerator cable? if not, what is it? can that plastic cap be replaced or does the whole cable need to be bought again and installed?

thanks for your help

It looks to be the throttle cable, but could be the cruise control cable too. Easy way to find out is to have some one hold on to it then press the gas peddle and if it moves then it's the throttle cable!

That is the TV Cable for the transmission. Controls shift points. Fix that before you drive the car anywhere. You can easily burn up a transmission without it. It will need to be replaced with a new cable. Have to pull the old one and run the new one to the trans
